Dato’ Hassan is a registered Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate (PEPC) and is currently serves in the BEM Working Group on PAE as well as the Engineers Act Committee. He is Emeritus Professor in UKM and is a Technical Director with Perunding Atur Trafik Sdn Bhd, an Engineering Consultancy Practice. Dato’ Hassan practiced in the industry for four years with MMC Engineering Services before joining UKM, where he served as Head of the Civil Engineering Department, Dean of Engineering, Director for Research & Innovation, Founding Director for Corporate Planning & Communications and Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic & International Affairs. He was also Chairman of UKM Pakarunding Sdn Bhd and UKM Kesihatan Sdn Bhd and had practiced in several engineering consultancy firms. He has been very active with BEM in various roles for the past two decades, including as Board Member for nine years as well as Chairing the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC), the Engineering Technology Accreditation Council (ETAC), and several BEM Committees. Dato’ Hassan graduated with B.Eng.(Hons). in Civil Engineering from Tasmania University, Australia, and later obtained his PhD and Masters with Distinction in Environmental Engineering in Environmental Engineering from Leeds University, UK.
